Sanchez to Man City? Our traders make Chelsea move more likely

Published:

This could be Alexis Sanchez’s last season in an Arsenal shirt, according to our traders. They’ve priced the Chile international at just 4/7 to not be a Gunners player on the opening day of next season.

That’s the shortest price he’s been for some time to leave the Emirates this summer, and the latest odds are suggesting his next destination will be Stamford Bridge.

It’s just 5/2 for Antonio Conte to bring the 28-year-old to Chelsea when the transfer window opens, while Paris Saint-Germain are next in the running at 9/2.

That’s despite this morning’s papers suggesting that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on bringing the former Barcelona man to the Etihad.

It’s thought the Spanish boss will have somewhere in the region of £200m to play with in order to strengthen his squad for a title push next campaign, with plenty believing Sanchez is high on his wish list.

Plenty excluding our odds-compilers, that is. They make City 7/1 outsiders as things stand, although those odds may change substantially over the coming weeks if speculation surrounding Sanchez’s future intensifies further.

It’s certainly not something Gooners want to be reading, but odds of a Sanchez exit are continuing to plummet as contract talks stall.

And now seven points off the top four, his teammates are doing very little on the pitch to convince him to stick around for another year or so.

With 18 goals and 10 assists to his name in the Premier League, Sanchez has easily been Arsenal’s most influential player this season.

And although their top four hopes look to be fading, they’re still going strong in the Emirates FA Cup, and are two games away from claiming their third Wembley success in four years.

If they were to do that, it’s likely Sanchez would play a huge part in the helping them lift the trophy.

But will that be his parting gift?
