Punter’s incredible £51k acca wipes the floor with the bookies

Published:

A floor layer in his early-twenties from Kent landed over £51,000 from a £10 15-team accumulator last night.

But the winner was straight back to work on site today as his step-father – who is also his boss – didn’t give him any time off to celebrate.

The monster coupon was placed on our mobile App and featured wins from teams in the football leagues of England, Scotland, Germany and Spain.

And our punter held his nerve throughout the final game, resisting the temptation to cash out as Atletico Madrid clung on to beat Real Sociedad 1-0.

The lucky punter – a Blackburn Rovers supporter – said: “The Atletico Madrid game was the final leg of the acca and with all of the results already in the bag, I needed them to hold on.

“I watched the last 20 minutes or so and resisted the temptation to cash out. It’s fair to say I’m feeling pretty happy today. But despite the win I’m back on site as my boss hasn’t given me the day off. I might buy him a beer later to celebrate though.

“I’ve done plenty of longshot football accumulators in the past and I always seem to miss by one team so my luck had to change at some point.”

Punting hero sets his sights on the Masters

Our winner is yet to decide what to do with his cash, suggesting a property investment or holiday spending might be on the cards.

He added: “I’m lucky enough to drive an Audi Q3 already so I don’t need a new car. I might put this down as a deposit on a flat so I can rent it out, or I’ll keep some back as spending money as I’m going on safari this summer then to New York at the end of the year.”

The keen golf fan will reinvest some of his windfall on Rickie Fowler to win the Masters at 22/1, suggesting: “I want to strike while the iron is hot and Rickie is my man – he’s got a great chance this week and hopefully this will be the cherry on top.”

Ross County were the team to score the latest goal, securing a dramatic win thanks to a 90th minute penalty.

And as sponsors of the SPFL, we’re sending the winner a signed Staggies shirt as a memento of the win.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Fortune can often favour the brave when it comes to football accumulators and we take our hat off to one fan who held his nerve to land a serious windfall. We admire his work ethic too, heading straight back to the site the next day and keeping the celebratory beers on ice.”

He added: “Should Fowler come through at Augusta, we expect our man might turn up a little bit bleary-eyed on Monday.”
