Man United v Swansea: Red Devils will cruise to home victory

Published:

They may have settled for a point at the Etihad on Thursday night, but Manchester United will do no such thing on Sunday, as they play host to a Swansea City side with one of the Premier League’s worst away records.

The Swans have lost 13 of their last 16 on the road, and haven’t scored on their travels since netting a late consolation goal at Hull City on March 11.

By contrast, the Red Devils are enjoying a 26-game unbeaten streak at Old Trafford, and ensuring victory in 11 of the last 15 – including a 2-0 defeat of Chelsea in their last home league outing.

And their defensive record suggests the South Wales side are unlikely to end their goal drought on the road, with Jose Mourinho’s men having conceded a stingy five times in their last 10 outings.

That means we reckon the 5/4 for United to win to nil – for the 21st time this season – looks like an excellent bet.

Meanwhile, there’s one name really catching our eye in the goalscorer markets – Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian has registered in three of United’s last six games, including netting the opener twice.

He’s 6/5 to score anytime, while 4/1 says he breaks the deadlock once again.

Elsewhere, there’s a particular 6/4 shot we really fancy. It’s a bit niche, but bear with us…

United have netted a single goal in the first half during four of their last six games. So the odds-against price for them to score just once before the interval here looks like great value.

In the match betting, Man United are 3/10 favourites for victory, with Swansea 8/1 to pull off a shock win, and the draw priced up at 18/5.
