Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Wrap: Hull KR cause a 5th Round upset
Published:Hull Kingston Rovers produced one of the big storylines in this year’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Fifth Round with their victory over Super League outfit Leigh Centurions the starting point of our wrap-up.
Earlier in the week, we spoke exclusively to KR Head of Rugby and Ladbrokes ambassador Jamie Peacock to get his thoughts on the game.
The Rugby League legend was in buoyant mood ahead of the clash at the Sports Village and his confidence was proved right when KR downed their top-flight opponents when securing a deserved 23-10 win.
The Robins were understandably thrilled with Saturday’s result and just a day later Jamie himself was cock-a-hoop after a sterling effort in the London Marathon.

Swinton get in on the giant-killing act
Not to be outdone, Kingstone Press Championship side Swinton Lions caused a shock of their own when beating Super League Huddersfield Giants on their own patch.
The heroic Lions fielded three debutants owing to injuries and trailed three times in a topsy-turvy contest.
However, Luke Waterworth stepped up and became the hero with his try five minutes from time sealing a dramatic 28-24 win.

Wolfpack leave competition with heads held high
The Toronto Wolfpack may have been beaten 29-22 by 12-man Salford Red Devils but the Canadian club leave the competition with plenty of admirers following their debut campaign.
Ryan Brierley had given the visitors 16-12 ahead at the AJ Bell Stadium but Salford dug deep after having Justin Carney sent off for dissent.
And finally…
BBC Sport viewers were treated to an entertaining contest between Whitehaven and Halifax with the latter prevailing 36-12.
A hat-trick by 17-year-old debutant Jack Walker helped the Leeds Rhinos to a high-scoring 64-28 success over Doncaster while Featherstone Rovers were more comfortable winners over the Oldham Roughyeds.
Substitute Lewis Fairhurst’s drop-goal in golden point extra-time secured a narrow 23-22 victory for the Dewsbury Rams over the Batley Bulldogs and the Barrow Raiders are also into the hat for the next round after routing the York City Knights 50-28.
