Introducing…the 4 Celta Vigo stars who can hurt Man United

They may be odds-on to lift the Europa League trophy, but Manchester United certainly shouldn’t start counting their chickens just yet.

The Red Devils’ next opponents – Celta Vigo – will prove a stern test, with a handful of top-rate talents across the pitch. Here are the men who could cause some serious problems for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Hugo Mallo (RB)

Having joined the club as a youngster, Mallo is something of a fans’ favourite, having now chalked up 257 games for the Galician outfit. But it’s much more than just his progression through the ranks which has made him so popular with the supporters at Balaidos.

An extremely reliable defensive presence, the Celta captain also possesses the pace and flair needed to produce opportunities at the other end, chalking up three assists in the UEL alone this term.

Daniel Wass (AM)

Nobody has played more games for Celticos this season than the Dane – and that’s testament to his consistently excellent displays. With a knack for excellent long-range passing, United’s defence must keep a close eye on the man who’s chalked up five assists this season.

A genuine big-game player, the 27-year-old also scored the all-important goal to take Celta through to the Copa Del Rey Semi-Finals, as they knocked out Real Madrid over two legs – one of seven he’s netted this season. United beware…

Pione Sisto (RW)

If United fans don’t remember the name, they’ll certainly remember the goals. The 22-year-old winger netted in both legs of the Red Devils’ UEL meeting with Danish club FC Midtjylland last season – including a lovely finish at Old Trafford.

Robust, creative and with a keen eye for goal, the Danish international made the move to Celta last summer, and took little time to make his mark, netting in an early-season 4-3 victory over Barcelona – one of six goals he’s scored for Celticos this term.

Iago Aspas (CF)

Forget his miserable 15-game stint with Liverpool – since returning to boyhood club Celta in 2015, the tireless hitman has been outstanding.

A ruthless, ice-cool finisher, Aspas netted 18 times last term, while he’s reached 21 (and counting) this season, including five in this competition.

But it’s not just as a finisher that the Moana native poses a threat. He’s also chalked up eight assists, as well as possessing the tough-tackling tenacity which has unsettled more than a few opposition defenders this season.

In the match betting, Celta Vigo are 21/10 to win the first leg at Balaidos, with Man United 7/5 and the draw priced up at 23/10.
