Hibs’ on-loan star Ambrose lands March Player of the Month award
Published:Hibernian’s on-loan defender Efe Ambrose has scooped the Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Month award for March following a string of fine displays for the Edinburgh outfit.
Ambrose moved to the Leith club on loan from Celtic in February, re-uniting with former Hoops boss Neil Lennon.
And the switch has worked out well for both parties with Lennon recently telling the Daily Record he believes the 28-year-old is a ‘class act’.
Championship table-toppers Hibs endured a tough start to March with their 2-0 defeat to St. Mirren not the ideal way to begin the calendar month.
However, the Cabbage recovered from that set-back to book their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals and pull further clear of their nearest league rivals.
A crucial 1-0 away win at Dundee United was followed-up by a tempestuous draw at home to Dumbarton and a 2-1 success over second-placed Falkirk.
Ambrose netted his first Hibees’ goal against the Bairns to cement his cult hero status before his new side rounded off the month with a 0-0 draw against Greenock Morton.
Lennon’s outfit take on Queen of the South at Easter Road this Saturday with the home side 4/9 favourites to take another crucial three points.
