Former Hibernian boss favourite to be next Dundee manager

Published:

Dundee could be set to act quickly following the sacking of Paul Hartley, with former Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs the 4/1 favourite to occupy the Dens Park hotseat.

The former Celtic defender was in charge at Easter Road from 2014-16, and led the club to their first Scottish Cup triumph in 114 years at the end of last season.

However, after a short stint at Rotherham United, he’s currently on the market again. And our traders make him the current frontrunner, though there are a host of familiar names also in the running.

Experienced gaffer Terry Butcher is a 6/1 shot, with Greenock Morton boss Jim Duffy the same price following his superb tenure at Cappielow.

Meanwhile, Italian legend Fabrizio Ravanelli – who played briefly for the Dark Blues in the 2003-04 campaign – is 7/1 to take the post, having reportedly confirmed his interest.

BT Sport pundit Stephen Craigan is 8/1 to make this his first permanent managerial role, while Danny Lennon is also available at 8s.

Meanwhile, former Dundee United boss Mixu Paatelainen is 12/1 to take the post across DD3.

David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said: “Without a manager and facing a tough relegation battle Dundee will need someone that will have an immediate impact and get them back on track, and  Alan Stubbs has been installed as the early frontrunner to do just that”.
