Chelsea v Man City: Expect plenty of goals in this top-four clash

Published:

While some top-four clashes have a habit of being disappointingly cagey, Chelsea v Manchester City is one fixture which always lives up to expectation.

The last four meetings have produced a total of 16 goals, and that high-scoring trend is set to continue on Wednesday night.

Chelsea are currently the Premier League’s top scorers with 60 goals and counting, and have found the net in each of their last 16 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Citizens are the Prem’s highest scorers away from home, with 32 goals in 15 on the road.

That means there’s plenty of value in backing the net to keep bulging in this one. Over 2.5 Goals looks like a safe bet at 8/11, Meanwhile, there’s 7/4 available for this game to produce more than 3.5 Goals for the third time in four meetings.

One man who looks generously priced to get his name up on the scoreboard is City winger Leroy Sane. The 21-year-old has netted in five of his last eight outings, so we reckon our traders have missed a trick by pricing him up at 29/10 to score at any time here.

And having recorded the final goal on two of those occasions, the 9/1 for the German to be Last Goalscorer also looks favourable.

On the opposing side, Cesc Fabregas’ run of scoring in three of his last half-dozen Prem appearances makes the 10/3 for the 29-year-old to get among the goals anytime worth a flutter.

But where are the points heading in this one?

It’s tough to call, but City’s impressive away record – coupled with their 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge back in April 2016 – means we wouldn’t back against them to enjoy victory in West London at odds of 19/10.

Meanwhile, it’s 13/10 for the Blues to take another step towards the league title with a win, while the draw is priced up at 5/2.
