Chelsea v Man City: Aguero and Luiz 6/4 NOT to shake hands

Published:

What better way to get back into the swing of things in the Premier League than with a full midweek fixture list? The standout clash has to be at Stamford Bridge, where league leaders Chelsea will welcome Manchester City.

We say welcome, although we’re hardly expecting them to do so with open arms.

The last time the pair met, Chelsea ran out 3-1 victors, although the result was somewhat overshadowed by an incident involving Sergio Aguero and David Luiz.

A reckless tackle from the Argentine earned him a red card, while teammate Fernandinho was also given his marching orders in the aftermath.

This wasn’t the first time Aguero has done this though. The South American rivals have come to blows once before, back in 2013 – and we’re going 6/4 about the pair NOT shaking hands before the match gets underway.

But that loss of heads towards the tail end of the game back in December was by no means a surprise to see.

In fact, we’ve witnessed a whopping 27 yellow cards and four reds in the last five Premier League clashes between these two sides.

With that in mind, there could be plenty of value in the 9/4 on offer for a red card to be shown at any time.

Our odds-compilers even make it a 25/1 shot that either Pep Guardiola or Antonio Conte gets sent to the stands. Both are incredibly passionate – and the Italian gaffer has a habit of letting his emotions get the better of him – so this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It’s no secret that there’s history between Aguero and Luiz, and our traders are clearly fancying that to continue into this fixture.”
