We’ve opened betting on how far Arrogate will win by at Meydan

Arrogate - Dubai World Cup odds

The world’s richest race night takes centre stage this Saturday with one horse in particular courting headlines ahead of the $10m Dubai World Cup.

Arrogate is the undoubted star attraction with the three-time Grade 1 winner ready for action, following his trip from California.

However, you’ll need deep pockets to back him for World Cup glory.

The Bob Baffert-trained four-year-old is just 1/3 to win this weekend’s race with our specials markets offering far greater value.

We’ve priced up a number of winning distance markets with odds of 11/4 available for Arrogate to win by under four lengths.

Two of his six victories have come via that margin, including a half length success over California Chrome in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

But this test looks far more manageable. And in that respect, the 3/1 for Arrogate to win by four to seven lengths inclusive looks more appealing.

After all, that’s the margin he’s won by in three of those six aforementioned successes.

And finally, it’s 9/4 for the World’s Best Racehorse to hack up by seven lengths or more.

Jockey Mike Smith told the assembled media at Meydan’s Breakfast with the Stars that we can expect to see “something special” should the American raider bring his A-game.

Baffert was perhaps even more fulsome in his praise, labelling his charge the “dirt version of Frankel.”

Smith has more than 5,000 career wins under his belt and has landed more Breeders’ Cup successes than any other rider so he knows what he’s talking about.

And while the 51-year-old is yet to add the Dubai World Cup to his glittering CV, it seems almost certain that he won’t have to wait too much longer.

The only question is: just how impressive will Arrogate be on the dirt in Dubai?
