Few would argue that West Ham could use some defensive reinforcements this summer, and the latest news from France suggests the east Londoners are ready to do some business.

Saint-Etienne right-back Kevin Malcuit is the reported target, and the Hammers were linked with the 25-year-old in January.

Valued at just over £1m by transfermarkt.co.uk, Malcuit is certainly within Slaven Bilic’s budget.

The Frenchman has impressed for Les Verts this season, and they sit seventh in Ligue 1.

And Malcuit’s importance to the club is emphasised by the fact that Saint-Etienne have failed to win seven of the eight games he’s missed.

The Parisian began his career with Monaco, before spending a couple of years down the French football ladder.

Picked up by Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2015, Malcuit has gone from strength to strength, and another move looks imminent.

The Hammers sit in mid-table, but have kept just six clean sheets this season, in addition to conceding three goals or more seven times.

With no Emirates FA Cup game to look forward to, Bilic’s men can move into the Premier League top-half this weekend when they visit Bournemouth.

The Cherries are struggling for form in 2017, and plenty will fancy an away win at 7/4.
