West Ham Evens to snap up Champions League-winning hitman

Published:

Slaven Bilic could be set to solve West Ham United’s striker woes in spectacular fashion, with our traders making it Evens for Juventus ace Mario Mandzukic to make London Stadium his next port of call.

The 30-year-old received his debut for Croatia – and a subsequent 31 caps – under Bilic, between 2006 and 2012, so there’s little doubt the Irons gaffer would once again get the best out of the experienced hitman.

And he’s definitely interested. After all, the Hammers boss tried to secure a deal for the striker back in January, only for it to fall through – so it’s no surprise to hear Bilic has ramped up his interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

For the striker’s part, despite lifting the Serie A and Coppa Italia double with Juve during an impressive 2015-16, he’s struggled to replicate that form this year – so a switch to a familiar boss and a new league could be just the boost his career needs.

However, the east London outfit are far from the only club keen to acquire his services. For starters, Turkish heavyweights Besiktas are also in the running to sign the towering forward at 3/1.

Next up in the betting are former club VfL Wolfsburg (4/1), with whom the forward scored 20 goals over the course of two seasons.

But it’s not impossible we could see him move to the Premier League without reuniting with a former gaffer. That’s because Crystal Palace are 8/1 shots to secure his signature, with Everton priced up at 10s and Stoke City 16/1.

One club who won’t be getting their hands on the striker, though, are the side he lifted the Champions League with in 2013 – Bayern Munich. In fact, our traders make them a hefty 25/1 to re-add Mandzukic to their ranks.
