Through Irish Eyes: Glory and John can round-off fine week

I had a fantastic St. Patrick’s Thursday! I thought Presenting Percy was a masterful training example while Un De Sceaux simply took my breath away.
He is a phenomenal horse and his Ryanair Chase win is undoubtedly the highlight of my week so far.
We still have the final day to go and Ireland will surely get at least one more winner on the board to break their record of winners at the Cheltenham Festival.
Ground will suit Landofhopeandglory
The Triumph Hurdle is a difficult race to call. Defi Du Seuil is an obvious place to start. He’s unbeaten since joining Philip Hobbs and has won three times at Cheltenham.
I am slightly dubious about him on this faster ground however, so I might have a small each way flutter on Joseph O’Brien’s Landofhopeandglory.
He’s flat bred and will love the faster ground, plus he doesn’t have a massively dissimilar profile to last year’s winner Ivanovich Gorbatov from the same stable.
Gorbatov and Joey have chances in the County Hurdle
That horse runs in the following race, the County Hurdle, and isn’t without a chance in this lesser company.
He has regressed since his festival win but could bounce back.
In the same race, another Irish representative at a big price is Joey Sasa. He’s been running against hot company on home turf and trainer Noel Meade socred yesterday with Road To Respect, so the stable is clearly in form.
Monalee can upset the odds in the Albert Bartlett
The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle revolves around Death Duty, who trainer Gordon Elliot holds in the highest esteem, and Augusta Kate, who was giving him a serious race when falling last time.
However, I might dodge the two of them and go for Henry De Bromhead’s Monalee.
John can find more to land Gold Cup double
The Cheltenham Gold Cup is so hard, as it’s so open.
But I’m hoping Sizing John can stretch an extra two furlongs up the Cheltenham hill. He was running on when winning the Irish equivalent so fingers crossed he’ll keep on travelling.
He’s my selection for the feature of the week.
