Rostov v Man United: Back visitors to continue fine away form

Published:

Manchester United have to clock up the miles – 3,744 of them in fact – to face FC Rostov in the Europa League on Thursday night. But it’s likely to be a fruitful trip, with the away-day specialists facing off against inconsistent opposition.

Jose Mourinho’s men have won each of their last three away games, including a 3-0 demolition of Premier League champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Oh, and they’ve scored in each of the last 11 matches on their travels.

And we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Red Devils win comfortably in Russia. Of the last seven games the North-West giants have won, they’ve led at half-time in six of them. So the 7/4 for Man United to win both halves in the Half-Time/Full-Time market looks like excellent value.

They also look well priced to win without conceding at 13/8. Rostov have failed to score in eight of their last 15 games, while the Old Trafford outfit have won to nil in the same number of their most recent 15.

One man who could well make the difference is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The midfielder has scored in three of his last six outings, and already has goals away at Zorya and St Etienne to his name in this season’s UEL. He’s 2/1 to find the net anytime, while 6/1 says he opens the scoring for the fifth time this term.

In the match betting, the visitors look the best bet for victory at 3/4, with 5/2 for the draw and 4/1 on offer for Rostov to take a lead into the second leg.
