Pep Guardiola and Man City eye £40m move for Bayern Munich ace

We can expect big things in the transfer market from Manchester City this summer, and one signing repeatedly touted is Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.

The winger was signed by Pep Guardiola at Bayern on a two-year loan from Juventus, a deal which is set to end this summer.

But after shining under the Spaniard at the Allianz Arena, Coman has proven far less popular under Carlo Ancelotti this term.

Injuries haven’t helped, but the Frenchman has started just five Bundesliga games this season, and has yet to make a single start in the Champions League.

The chance to team-up again with Guardiola must appeal then, as Coman flourished under his tutelage last season.

Bagging six goals and 12 assists, the 20-year-old shone for Bayern last term, especially on the European stage.

Of course Juventus might want their star protégé back, but should City and Pep make a move, it may prove hard for Coman to turn them down.

Equally, the Parisian-born forward could return home. Coman began his career with Paris Saint-Germain, and is still their youngest ever player.

Coman himself as reportedly said he wants to stay at Bayern. But the lack of first-team football could force him to look elsewhere in a bid to make France’s World Cup team next year.

But it’s widely agreed that Guardiola is planning a big summer at the Etihad, as he looks to establish City at the forefront of domestic and European competition.

Valued at £17m by transfermarkt.co.uk, Coman’s Juventus contract runs until 2019, and City are unlikely to be successful with anything under £40m.

But as one of the most sought-after talents on the continent, the Etihad bigwigs might think Coman as a savvy investment.
