Middlesbrough v Man City: Expect Citizens to see off stuttering hosts

The first of this weekend’s Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Final ties comes from Teesside, where Middlesbrough host Manchester City, but all the signs suggest a surprise result is unlikely.

We make Pep Guardiola’s Citizens 2/5 favourites, with Aitor Karanka’s hosts the big outsiders at 13/2.

A draw is 7/2, but remember, from here on in there are no Replays so extra-time and penalties await this weekend.

The FA Cup has proven to be Boro’s sole joy in 2017, but in all fairness they’ve had a very generous series of draws.

The Teessiders have had a home tie in every round so far, and until this stage, have hosted lower-league opposition too.

Karanka’s charges have beaten Premier League opposition just four times this season, and all of those victories came against sides who sit in the bottom seven.

And with Man City on a 10-game unbeaten streak, you’ve got to fancy Guardiola’s men to prevail.

Backing the visitors on the -1 handicap represents good value at 6/5, while Evens on City keeping a clean sheet should appeal too.

Boro have scored just three goals in their last 10 games versus Premier League teams.

But they often keep things relatively tight at the back, so under 2.5 goals at Evens should prove popular.

Sergio Aguero has already netted three FA Cup goals this season, and the Argentine hotshot leads the first goalscorer betting at 2/1.

Plenty will fancy Kelechi Ihaenacho to net the last goal of the game at 3/1, with the 20-year-old developing a knack for grabbing late strikes this season.
