Man United shock favourites to snap up Man City legend

Published:

Manchester could be the setting of this summer’s most controversial transfer move, with Man City star Yaya Toure just 13/8 to make the move to fierce local rivals Manchester United.

The Ivorian is out-of-contract at the end of this season, and his agent Dimitri Seluk has spoken publicly in recent days to confirm he’d be happy for his client to join any Premier League rival, including the likes of United and Liverpool.

If the 33-year-old does so, you can expect plenty of rancour amongst the Citizens faithful. Having won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cup trophies since his arrival in 2010, he’s currently a legend at the Etihad – but that will count for little among City fans if he joins Jose Mourinho and co.

And right now, United are clear favourites to snap up the midfield maestro.

However, they could face competition from the big bucks of the Chinese Super League, with our number-crunchers making it a 7/2 shot for the former Monaco man to be the division’s latest marquee signing.

And there’s also a quartet of Premier League outsiders with a possibility of beating the favourites to the punch, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham each priced up at 6s to be Toure’s next employers.

However, the bookies have all but ruled out a return to the Nou Camp, with 20/1 on offer for the midfielder to head back to Barca.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Yaya could be set to turn from titan to traitor in the eyes of City fans, with the odds suggesting he could soon swap the Etihad for the Stretford End.”
