Man United installed as clear favourites to sign Tottenham ace

| 04.03.2017

Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera. If there’s one thing Manchester United need right now, it’s clearly not another central midfielder…

But nevertheless, the Red Devils continue to be linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur and England ace, Eric Dier.

And while our traders have refrained from opening a market on his next destination in the past, they’ve finally cracked – making United clear favourites at 5/2 for the 23-year-old’s signature.

The defensive-midfielder has enjoyed a fine season thus far, but it was last campaign where he really caught our eye, keeping things ticking over in the centre of the park for the north London outfit and receiving several England call-ups in the process.

He’s likely to cost a fair amount though, with Tottenham reportedly valuing Dier at £35m.

But plenty are saying he’d be the perfect long-term for Michael Carrick, who is fast approaching the latter stages of his career.

While Man United are the clear frontrunners, their neighbours across the city are a 12/1 shot, while Chelsea and Barcelona are both 10/1 to add Dier to their ranks.

A move to Germany hasn’t completely been ruled out though, with 16/1 on offer for the midfielder to team up with the likes of Manuel Neuer and Douglas Costa at Bayern Munich.

But what do fans think? Is Dier worth the reported asking price? And where would be the best destination for him were he to leave White Hart Lane?
