Man City can still win the league – and they’ll prove it tomorrow

Make no mistake about it, the race for the Premier League title is far from over. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will tell you that, and so will the table.
As things stand, Manchester City are 11 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Consider this scenario…
Man City go to Sunderland tomorrow as 3/10 favourites to take all three points off the Black Cats for the sixth time in a row in the top-flight.
That puts them eight points behind the league leaders, who have to travel to West Ham on Monday evening, where it would hardly be a surprise to see Slaven Bilic’s men take at least a point.
And recent form suggests Chelsea won’t necessarily run away with the title – far from that in fact.
Yes, they went on an incredible run earlier in the season, picking up points with ease. But Liverpool and Burnley have both proved that Chelsea may not be beatable, but they’re certainly not unstoppable.
And Guardiola’s Citizens still have to face Chelsea in April, in what could be a title-deciding fixture.
It’s not beyond the realms of imagination to see City just three or four points behind the west London outfit before they meet. If that were to be the case, that clash at Stamford Bridge could be huge.
But looking to Sunday’s meeting with Sunderland, City head into that clash off the back of a convincing 5-1 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup. It’s 25/1 for a repeat of that scoreline at the Stadium of Light.
The last time this pair met, it was David Moyes’ first game in charge of the north-east outfit. An 87th minute Paddy McNair met the Black Cats lost 2-1 at the Etihad.
As is so often the case for City, Sergio Aguero was on the scoresheet that day. In fact, he netted first, and he’s 9/4 to do the same again in the reverse fixture.
While we simply can’t see a way past City here (in fact we’d be tempted by the 4/5 on offer for Man City -1 for more value), if anyone is likely to score for Sunderland, it’s Jermain Defoe.
And of course, he’s the shortest priced player for the home side to find the net, and 9/4 says he scores at any time.
But all things considered, the value here lies with the visitors. And our best bet would be Man City to win with both sides scoring. That’s available at 13/8, which sounds like excellent value – providing Claudio Bravo plays a part in this one!
