Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be set to become the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer, if the latest reports are anything to go by.

It’s emerged that LA Galaxy are gearing up a major bid for the Swede, whose one-year deal with Manchester United is coming to an end.

Comments from both player and the Old Trafford outfit suggest that an extension will be reached, but that is yet to be confirmed.

A flick through the Galaxy’s current roster shows a dearth of big name players, and this from a club which famously took David Beckham stateside.

It’s believed LA want Ibrahimovic to create the same buzz that Beckham made 10 years ago and our traders make the deal 7/4 to go ahead.

Beckham earned over $6.5m per year during his time in LA, but the biggest salary goes to Kaka, who is paid over $7m per year at Orlando City.

After winning the MLS Cup in 2014, the California outfit have struggled in the last two seasons, and have failed to reach the Conference Finals.

They remain the most successful club stateside however, with five titles.

Ibrahimovic will turn 36 later this year, but his performances for Man United suggest the Swede isn’t losing any of his talent.

The former Paris saint-Germain star has bagged 26 goals from 39 appearances during his first season in England, including a double in the EFL Cup win over Southampton.

But for the next few weeks Zlatan will have to watch from the sidelines, following a domestic three-game ban for an elbow on Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings.

The Swede will hope to have an impact tonight though, as United head to Russia to face FC Rostov in the Europa League.
