Everton odds-on to sign Orlando City star as Lukaku exit looms

Published:

Everton look likely to lose star striker Romelu Lukaku this summer, but boss Ronald Koeman seems to have the ideal replacement waiting in the wings, with the Toffees hot favourites to sign Orlando City ace Cyle Larin.

The Canadian forward is 10/11 to make Goodison Park his new home, and there’s little doubt he’d be a great addition.

He may be just 21, but the rangy striker has already netted 34 goals in 61 games in MLS, as well as scoring four times in Canada’s World Cup 2018 qualification quest.

But with Orlando City failing to shine in MLS, there’s little doubt that the Brampton native will seek his opportunity elsewhere.

And right now it seems he’s likely to be the latest North American to head to the blue half of Merseyside – following in the footsteps of players like Tim Howard, Tomasz Razdinski, Landon Donovan and Joe Max-Moore.

But Everton boss Ronald Koeman could face stiff competition from across Stanley Park, with Liverpool 4/1 to pip the Toffees to the signature of Larin.

They’re followed in the betting by Manchester City (6/1) and Southampton (7/1), while the Orlando team’s affiliate club – Stoke City – are priced up at 8s to add the Canadian to their ranks.

However, despite recent talk of Nottingham Forest being keen on the prolific hitman, our traders reckon the East Midlands club have next to no chance of snapping him up, with 20/1 available for a move to the City Ground.
