Cheltenham Day 3 Lucky 15: Mullins pair feature in latest punt

Keep the faith. It’s going to come good. The punters will have their day at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. And that day could well be St. Patrick’s Thursday.

It’s tough to see it that way following the incredible first half to the 2017 meeting. But with 14 races remaining there’s still plenty of chances to get on the good foot.

That’s surely how the beleaguered Willie Mullins team will be viewing proceedings and they’ve got a great chance of getting on the board in the first.

Yorkhill is our selection in the JLT Novices’ Chase, despite his well-publicised ‘issues’ over fences. Last year’s Neptune Novices’ Hurdle winner can get the better of Top Notch and bring some much-needed cheer to Closutton. And hopefully it won’t be their only winner of the day.

Empire of Dirt can level the score for Gigginstown in the Ryanair Chase with Gordon Elliott’s course and distance winner making more appeal than the talented, but opposable, Un De Sceaux.

The 16:10 looks a fascinating race with the top three in the market each holding strong claims.

However, it’s Robin Dickin’s Thomas Crapper, a big race winner for this column less than two weeks ago, who gets the nod.

And finally, the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle appears to be an open goal for Willie with Let’s Dance backed to get the better of stablemate Airlie Beach.

Here are our Lucky 15 selections:

1. Yorkhill (13:30)

2. Empire of Dirt (14:50)

3. Thomas Crapper (16:10)

4. Let’s Dance (16:50)
