Cheltenham day 1 NAP: Limini can be backed with confidence

Limini Mares' Hurdle odds

In punting terms, this year’s Cheltenham Festival opening day isn’t the most straightforward to unpick. In fact, that’s putting it lightly.

However, there is one contender you should be able to put your proverbial hat on and that’s Willie Mullins’ Limini.

The Closutton handler might not have his usual embarrassment of riches at Prestbury Park but he’s still pretty well-represented.

And we fancy Mullins and owner Rich Ricci to once again take the spoils in this year’s Mares’ Hurdle.

Stablemate and last year’s winner, Vroum Vroum Mag, was hardly impressive last time out at Doncaster and the fact she’s gone from being a Champion Hurdle hopeful to defending this crown is perhaps noteworthy.

On the other hand, Limini, last year’s Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle winner, comes into this fresh from beating the re-opposing Apple’s Jade at Punchestown.

She was pretty comfortable on that occasion and we’ve already seen how impressive she can be in Gloucestershire.
