Chelsea 11/10 favourites to sign Roma ace Nainggolan

Published:

Chelsea were rejected in their advances for Roma’s Radjga Nainggolan a year ago, but speculation is mounting over the Blues making another bid this summer.

The Belgian held talks with Antonio Conte before this season began, but their £23m bid wasn’t enough to tempt Roma to sell.

It’s believed the Italian outfit were – and still are – holding out for a fee nearer £32m.

But given the success Conte has brought to Chelsea this season, it’s well within reason to fancy that Blues owner Roman Abramovic will be willing to fork out another £9m.

Nainggolan has been in the Italian capital for three years, but has been open-minded in the press about a move to the Premier League.

He’s again shone for the Romans this season, bagging nine goals and four assists in Serie A in what has become his most successful campaign in front of goal.

But with Juventus continuing to dominate domestic affairs, chances of silverware look slim.

Nainggolan has spent his entire career in Italy, beginning with Piacenza, before moving to Cagliari in 2009. Roma paid £12m for his services in 2014.

But should Nainggolan move to west London he’ll be welcomed by plenty of familiar faces.

Chelsea already boast Belgian internationals Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Michy Batshuayi in their squad, while up and coming talent Charly Musonda is also on the books at Stamford Bridge.

The end result is that our traders make the Blues clear favourites at 11/10 to sign the 28-year-old midfielder.

Manchester City are second in the betting at 4/1, with Real Madrid next up at 6s.

A switch to Manchester United is 9/1, while the odds suggest that should Nainggolan move this summer, he won’t be staying in Italy.

Juventus are priced up at 16/1, with AC Milan the outsiders at 20s.
