Championship clubs on alert after Monk voices Leeds uncertainty

He’s lead Leeds United through their strongest campaign in years, but it appears Garry Monk’s future is far from secure – and rival teams are ready to pounce.
The former Swansea boss has managed to bring some much-needed stability to the Elland Road outfit, and Leeds sit fourth in the table with just 12 games to go.
But the 37-year-old’s one-year contract is nearing an end, and Monk himself admitted this week that his future is uncertain.
Leeds’ new co-owner Andrea Radrizzani has claimed that the situation is not one to be concerned about.

But as long as a new agreement is yet to arrive, the door is open for rival clubs to snatch the highly-rated Monk.
Norwich City and Nottingham Forest are reportedly two of the most keen, while Derby County have also been linked.
The news won’t be encouraging for Canaries boss Alex Neil or Rams coach Steve McClaren, particularly the latter who only returned to Derby last October.
But the iPro Stadium outfit have failed to produce this season, and sit a mediocre 11th, 10 points off the play-off spots.
Announcing Monk as boss would surely go down well at the City Ground though, with Forest lacking a permanent boss since parting ways with Philippe Montanier in January.
And having seen the former centre-half wade through the melee in Yorkshire, it’s within reason to believe Monk could do the same in Nottinghamshire.
For now Monk will be concentrating on Leeds’ clash away at Birmingham tonight.
Victory in the Midlands would see the Whites open-up an 11-point safety zone in the play-offs, while also heaping pressure on the sides seeking automatic promotion.
And with the Blues’ in freefall since ditching Gary Rowett, our odds of 6/4 make Monks’ Leeds favourites for another big three points.
