Bournemouth v Swansea: Back plenty of goals in this six-point scrap

Published:

This weekend’s Saturday night game sees Bournemouth host Swansea on the south coast. Both sides will see this is as a chance to claim three much-needed points, and we reckon that makes for an entertaining – and goal happy – encounter.

Swansea have been much-improved since Paul Clement took charge, while the Cherries picked up a massive win against West Ham last time out.

Our traders have priced up Eddie Howe’s men as 23/20 favourites, with their Welsh visitors out at 12/5.

But the best angle for a value punt looks to be goals, and plenty of them.

A whopping 23 of Bournemouth’s 28 league games have seen at least two goals scored. And while they boast the seventh-highest number of goals scored, the Cherries have the joint second-worst defence in the Premier League.

And with an average of 3.36 goals netted in their games, only two sides are seeing more goal action than the Dean Court outfit.

Liverpool are one side, and Swansea are the other, with their games averaging 3.46 goals scored.

Over 2.5 looks good then, at 4/6, and over 3.5 must be considered too art 13/8. Both teams to score should be backed with confidence too at 8/15.

And one man who should be among the goal action is Josh King. After three goals in his first 18 appearances this term, the Bournemouth forward has hit form with eight in seven.

With a hat-trick last time out against the Hammers, King is 9/2 favourite to open the scoring.

Fernando Llorente is another striker in fine fettle, and the 32-year-old has reached 11 goals in 25 league games for Swansea this term.

The experienced Spaniard has bagged 10 of those in his last 16 appearances, and can be backed at 11/2 to net first.
