Barcelona and Bayern favs as we await Champions League draw

Published:

We now know this season’s eight Champions League quarter-finalists, and ahead of Friday’s draw, our traders make Barcelona and Bayern Munich joint-favourites.

Both sides top the betting at 11/4, but Barca had drifted to 40/1 before they produced that remarkable turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern however, had a much easier time of it as they hammered Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate.

Behind that duo, Real Madrid are 9/2 to defend their title after comfortably ousting Napoli 6-2 over the two legs.

Those three sides have won each of the last four tournaments, and only Chelsea and Inter have broken the trio’s stranglehold since 2009.

That goes a long way to explaining why the odds then drift out to Juventus at 7s.

The Old Lady have dominated domestic affairs of late, but haven’t won Europe’s top club competition for over 20 years.

Both Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have been beaten finalists in recent years, and the two sides are each 9/1 to win it this year.

Plenty will fancy free-scoring Monaco to cause a surprise at 14/1, after the French side dumped Manchester City out of the tournament this week.

And Leicester City are the outsiders – and the sole remaining Premier League side – at 25/1, but the Foxes appear to thrive on being the underdog, and you just can’t rule out Jamie Vardy and co.

The Quarter-Final draw takes place on Friday in Nyon in Switzerland, and we’ll have all the latest odds reaction right here.
