Arsene Wenger now shortest price yet to leave Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has never been a shorter price to leave Arsenal, according to the latest odds.

Following another 5-1 hammering by Bayern Munich last night,we make Wenger just 1/2 to not be in charge of the first day of next season.

It’s 6/4 the under-fire Frenchman stays on at the Emirates.

As a result, betting on his replacement has ramped up once more and over 80 per cent of bets placed since full-time last night have backed 5/4 favourite Max Allegri.

It’s not all bad though, as Arsenal are 5/1 to win the Champions League within the next five years.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The odds of Wenger finally calling it a day have never been shorter, which must be good news for most Arsenal fans. As far as a replacement goes, the money now suggests Allegri is the number one  target.”

Behind Allegri, Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is next in the market. But his odds of 8/1 emphasise how one-sided the betting has become in the race to succeed Wenger.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are odds-on at 4/7 to miss out on a top-four Premier League finish this season.

For now, Wenger will turn his attention to this weekend’s Emirates FA Cup quarter-final clash with Lincoln City.

Anything but a comfortable victory over the Imps would only serve to heap further pressure on the Frenchman.

But our odds of 1/12 suggest the Gunners should come through unscathed on Saturday, with 6/4 saying they defeat their Non-League opponents by at least three goals.

If you do fancy Lincoln to cause an almighty upset however, it’s 50/1 the National League visitors win and Wenger is sacked before Monday.
