Wolves v Chelsea: There’s value in the home side earning a replay

In the Championship, it’s fair to say things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Winless in their last three, Paul Lambert’s men are struggling for consistency. In the Emirates FA Cup, however, it’s a completely different story.
Third Round against Stoke City? A breeze.
Fourth Round against Liverpool? Easy.
And this journey could be set to continue for at least another 90 minutes when Antonio Conte’s Chelsea come to town this weekend.
At 15/2, it’s a huge ask to expect the Black Country outfit to beat the Blues, but a draw is by no means out of the question.
And at 4/1, that’s where we’d be putting our money.
While they look to be running away with the Premier League, they’ve hardly been an unstoppable force away from Stamford Bridge. Draws at Burnley and Liverpool in the last three weeks emphasise this point ten-fold, as do defeats on the road against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Arsenal this season.
Against Liverpool in the last round, Lambert’s men never looked like losing. Helder Costa proved he could perform on the big stage, while Richard Stearman and Andreas Weimann both netted in a 2-1 win.
If anyone is going to score for the hosts, our traders reckon it’ll be either Costa or David Edwards. The pair have 17 goals between them in the league this year, and they’re 16/5 apiece to find the net at any time.
While the visitors have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning nine of the last 10 meetings between the two sides, Wolves fans will be hoping their side can pull off the kind of performance which saw them beat 1-0 Chelsea at Molineux back in 2011.
A Jose Bosingwa own goal separated the two sides on that day, and 20/1 says we see a repeat of that scoreline.
The visitors are 4/11 to reach their second successive Emirates FA Cup quarter-final, while it’s no surprise to see Diego Costa leading the way in the First Goalscorer market at 14/5.
And while we’re yet to know what kind of a team Conte will field, he’d be wise not to take this game lightly.
