Will Man City goal machine be heading to Real Madrid in the summer?

Published:

He may have only recently moved into third-place in Manchester City’s all-time scorers’ list earlier last month, but the latest rumours and odds are suggesting Sergio Aguero won’t be around to add to that tally for much longer.

Forced to watch his teammates breeze past West Ham in the week for 73 minutes before being substituted on with the game already having been wrapped up, the Argentina international is said to be growing frustrated at the lack of game-time he’s received since returning from injury.

And likewise, his boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly unhappy with Aguero’s work off the ball – despite the forward scoring some 18 goals in all competitions under the former Barcelona manager.

With the two huge personalities evidently clashing at the Etihad Stadium, it’s likely the 28-year-old forward will move on at the end of the season.

And our traders make Real Madrid favourites for his signature at 3/1.

Hardly short on attacking options themselves, Los Blancos are expected to sell Alvaro Morata and/or Karim Benzema in the summer, with the pair managing just 11 goals between them in 29 games combined.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is rumoured to be looking into the possibility of adding Benzema to his ranks, meaning City’s Premier League rivals would benefit from a potential domino effect occurring should Aguero move to the Bernabeu.

They may have kept hold of the striker for six seasons, but Man City would be letting Aguero go arguably as he is peaking, meaning the La Liga giants would get at least two years from the former Atletico Madrid man while he’s still at the top of his game.

It won’t be too much of a concern for Guardiola or supporters though, following the blistering start Gabriel Jesus has had to his City career.

Almost in Aguero-esque fashion, the Brazilian already has a goal and an assist to his name in the Premier League, after playing just over 90 minutes of top-flight English football.

If the 19-year-old maintains that rate between now and the end of the season, the Citizens may not even look at potential Aguero replacements in the summer.

What do fans think? Should the Argentine be sold?
