This Star will shine in the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket final

The final of the 2017 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket is upon us with the remaining six dogs primed for the £17,500 gala event at Crayford this evening.
And of the sextet there’s only one greyhound for us.
The Dolores Ruth-trained Boylesports Star ran a fastest 45.39sec in his semi-final and should he ping the lids once more we’re confident the son of Razldazl Billy will complete a hat-trick of wins in Kent.
Even when slow away in a messy Heat 4, Ruth’s charge still found enough to recover and score by three lengths.
However, it was his performance last time out that’s really caught our eye.
Once turning in front off the first bend, Boylesports Star had the rest of the field all strung out to eventually win by three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Any repeat will see him tough to catch although there is a certain fast-finishing rival to watch out for.
Having waited 42 years for an antepost favourite to land the Golden Jacket we may well get another in quick succession.
Paul Hennessy’s Jaytee Patriot just doesn’t know when he’s beaten with both of his victories in the competition thus far showcasing his incredible guts and stamina.
Even when meeting traffic in blizzard-like conditions, Patriot still managed to pick them all off and edge out Rubys Razzle in the semis.
However, it’ll be interesting to see whether the latter can turn the tables given his plum draw on the rails.
Last year’s winning trainer Mark Wallis is doubly represented in the 2017 final with Razzle and Ferryforth Fran both set to appear in the showpiece event.
JimbobJoe beat Fran in Heats but will find this a tougher assignment. Meanwhile, Romany Rouge is another we’re prepared to omit from our calculations ahead of the eight-bend finale.
