Roma favourites for Sassuolo ace – but Chelsea lead Prem charge

Sassuolo’s star midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini is set to be a man in demand this summer, with a number of Europe’s biggest sides courting his signature. And that includes Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City.
The 20-year-old has shone in Serie A this term with five goals and four assists, helping I Neroverdi to another respectable year in mid-table.
Signed from Roma for just £1.25m two years ago, Pellegrini is quickly making a name for himself in Italy, and his performances in central midfield have drawn the admiration of several clubs.
Roma are 2/1 favourites to re-sign the Italian U21 international, largely thanks to a buy-back deal agreed back in 2015.
Juventus and Inter Milan are next in the betting at 7/2 and 5/1, but then come Premier League kingpins Chelsea and Manchester City.
Both clubs have reportedly been tracking Pellegrini for some time, as each of Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola look to put their continental stamp on things in west London and Manchester respectively.
Conte’s links as former Juventus and Italy boss may give the Blues the edge, and our odds make them the most likely English club to snap up the midfield star at 6/1.
A move to Manchester United is 16/1, while Liverpool and Tottenham are the outsiders at 20/1 apiece.
For now Chelsea will focus on domestic affairs, with the Premier League back in action this weekend.
The Blues are 1/4 favourites to continue their charge to the title when they host Swansea, while the Citizens have the weekend off, as their scheduled Manchester derby has been postponed due to United featuring in Sunday’s EFL Cup Final against Southampton.
