Patriot now clear Ladbrokes Golden Jacket fav after semis

Jaytee Patriot is the favourite to land this year’s Ladbrokes Golden Jacket following an impressive victory at the penultimate stage.

Much like in Heats, the Irish raider showcased his phenomenal stamina to pick off his rivals and score by a length ahead of Ruby Razzle in the opening semi-final contest.

Even in blizzard-like conditions at Crayford, and having been bumped and then crowded, Paul Hennessy’s jolly found a way to win.

He’s now 5/4 to win the competition outright with Mark Wallis’ runner-up next best at 5/2.

Having only just been held off in the run-in, last year’s winning handler will believe his Prestige hero still has a great chance in next Tuesday’s showpiece final.

Elsewhere, the remaining finalists find themselves way back in the betting but that’s unlikely to put off value-seekers.

Jimbobjoe survived a messy second semi-final to earn his place amongst the last six with Rick Holloway’s charge priced at 12/1 to take the Golden Jacket.

Romany Rouge finished in front of Holloway’s entrant but he’s a 16/1 shot.

And finally, Boylesports Star clocked the fastest-winning time of the afternoon with the Dolores Ruth-trained runner completing two circuits in 45.39sec.

Once breaking well, this talented puppy was never going to be caught and he’ll be a lively outsider next week.

Wallis’ Ferryforth Fran completes the Golden Jacket final line-up.
