Mourinho leads the hunt to bring Chelsea hero to Man United

Published:

Jose Mourinho may have fallen short in his bid to sign Willian from Chelsea last summer, but the Manchester United boss looks unlikely to give up his pursuit of the Brazilian, with our traders making the Red Devils 4/1 favourites to be the player’s next destination.

The 28-year-old was a lynchpin of the Blues side that won the Premier League under Mourinho back in 2014-15, but this has arguably been the versatile playmaker’s most impressive campaign in English football, with seven goals to his name already in all competitions.

While Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will likely be reluctant to sell one of his star assets, United’s current spending power means they could well make the west London outfit an offer they can’t refuse. After all, they spent £157m on three players in summer 2016.

That financial clout, combined with the Mourinho factor, has led to United leading the market to be the former Corinthians prodigy’s next club. But he could be moving much further afield than the North-West.

That’s because our odds-compilers make it 9/2 for the wing wizard to join any Chinese Super League club, while there’s 5/1 on offer for Paris Saint-Germain to snap up the Prem-winning talent.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are 10s to snap up the Blues ace, with Liverpool 12/1 and a shock move to Chelsea’s capital rivals Arsenal priced up at 16/1.

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “Mou isn’t giving up on his man despite failing to do the deal last summer, and we could well see this title-winning partnership doing the business again at Old Trafford next season.”
