Motherwell v Hearts: Confidence oozing through this Jam Tarts side

| 03.02.2017

It’s amazing what one victory can do to a side’s confidence. Prior to their 4-1 thumping of Rangers, Ian Cathro’s Hearts side had taken just one win from their previous seven games in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

And now, with that incredible performance under their belt, the Jam Tarts head to Motherwell knowing three points there and a Celtic win over St Johnstone would see them edge clear of the Saints and make fourth spot their own.

In fact, should other results go their way, Hearts could find themselves just three points off Aberdeen in third. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – it’s time to look at our top bets for the clash at Fir Park…

History and current form point to a comfortable away win

Hearts have won four of their last five league meetings with Motherwell, drawing the other fixture.

And in that time, they’ve scored a staggering 16 goals, including a 6-0 win which came back in January 2016.

But if you’re of the opinion that head-to-head records count for nothing, it’s also worth noting that only three sides have conceded more than Well this season, while the Jam Tarts are the second-highest scoring team in the division.

If that’s not enough to persuade you to get on Hearts with a handicap, then nothing will…

Top Bet – Hearts -1 @ 12/5

Back high-flying winger to net again

Hearts winger Jamie Walker has been in unbelievable form this season, and is his side’s top scorer by some distance with 11 strikes from 21 games.

That means he already matched his best ever tally in front of goal, and he shows no sign of stopping soon.

A plucky punter would get on the 10/1 for Walker to net two or more – something he’s already done on four occasions this campaign – but we’re playing it safe and backing him to net just the one.

Top Bet – Jamie Walker to score at any time @ 13/8

We’re putting two and two together

The visitors are a shade of odds-on at 20/21 to win this match without a handicap attached. But if that’s not enough value for you, then simply add Jamie Walker to score to create a tidy wincast.

We’ve already paid out on that bet on four occasions this season – and we’re expecting to be putting our hands in our pockets once again this weekend.

Top Bet – Jamie Walker to score & Hearts to win @ 12/5
