Min and Faugheen will miss Cheltenham, markets react

Published:

Willie Mullins has confirmed that both Min and Faugheen will miss the 2017 Cheltenham Festival due to injury.

The former had been set to line-up in the Arkle while the latter was going to attempt to win back his Champion Hurdle crown next month.

However, the Closutton camp have informed the media that both stars will miss the Festival although Mullins is hopeful they’ll be fit enough to appear again this season.

The news comes as another major blow to Mullins, having already seen Annie Power ruled out of the spring spectacular.

Min and Faugheen’s absences have also had an impact on the betting markets with Nicky Henderson’s Buveur D’Air now the 3/1 favourite for Champion Hurdle.

Meanwhile, the same trainer’s Altior is just 8/11 to land the Arkle on the opening day with Mullins’ Yorkhill next best at 9/2.
