Mancini now odds-on for Leicester City vacancy after flurry of bets

Published:

Leicester City could be set to immediately replace sacked manager Claudio Ranieri with his compatriot, Roberto Mancini, if the latest odds are anything to go by.

Having been installed as 7/4 favourite for the post last night, the former Manchester City boss has seen his odds fall to just 4/6 after a flurry of bets were placed following reports that the Foxes have been in contact with the 52-year-old.

He’s by far the most backed and staked-on manager in the market, with the latest odds suggesting things are moving at a rapid pace in the East Midlands.

Meanwhile, Alan Pardew remains a 7/1 shot – although plenty would argue his experience in relegation scraps is exactly what Leicester need right now.

And on the subject of managers who have history of keeping sides afloat, it’s worth mentioning that a large number of bets have been placed on Harry Redknapp (16/1).

Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is an unlikely successor at 16/1, while our traders aren’t ruling out a return to the King Power Stadium for Nigel Pearson (8/1).

Former Fox Gary Rowett is also 8/1 for the vacancy, while interim manager Craig Shakespeare is a 16/1 shot to get the gig on a permanent basis.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Mancini is by far the most backed manager in the running for the Leicester job right now, and the fact he’s already odds-on suggests our traders reckon it could be one Italian out and another one in at the King Power.”
