Tottenham v Gent: Lump on Kane to go goal-crazy at Wembley

Published:

They may have struggled to make an impact in the first leg, slumping to a 1-0 defeat in Belgium, but the stats point to Tottenham making amends in style as they face Gent at Wembley in the Europa League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won 10 of their last 14 games in all competitions, scoring three or more goals on six of those occasions and keeping seven clean sheets along the way. So they head into this encounter full of confidence.

That means Spurs more than justify their price of 7/20 to beat De Buffalo’s, with the visitors 17/2 to win on the night, and 15/4 on offer for the draw.

Harry Kane has been the architect of much of Spurs’ recent success, with a 10-goal haul in as many outings. But while the 4/6 for him to score anytime is proving popular, we reckon his record of two hat-tricks in his last eight appearances makes the 11/1 for him to bag three goals here looks well worth a flutter.

But he’s far from their only goal threat, with the likes of Dele Alli and Heung-min Son both in fine fettle right now. That means the handicap of Tottenham -2 could be a great shout at 5/2, especially with Gent having scored just three goals in their last six away games.

The travel-sick visitors’ goal struggles also mean that backing Spurs to win to nil could be a smart selection at 11/10.

While we reckon the hosts will reward backers of that bet, for those keen to have a flutter on some joy for the visitors (we’re looking at you, Arsenal fans), De Buffalo’s first-leg hero Jeremy Perbet is 4/1 to add to his total of 11 goals this season.
