Liverpool v Tottenham: Evenly-matched encounter awaits at Anfield

Tottenham Premier League betting odds

The pick of this weekend’s Premier League action comes from Anfield, where Liverpool host Tottenham on Saturday night.

These two sides have vied for a spot in the top-four all season, but as far as current form goes, things couldn’t be more different.

Liverpool have won just once in 2017 – and that was in the Emirates FA Cup against Plymouth – while Mauricio Pochettino’s men are unbeaten in 11, winning nine.

But Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will demand a response from his side, after a drab 2-0 loss at Hull last weekend.

We make the hosts 6/5 favourites, with Tottenham 12/5.

Plenty will be tempted by the draw, however, at 9/4.

Only Manchester United, Stoke and Middlesbrough have drawn more games than Liverpool and Tottenham this term.

In addition, the Merseysiders have already shared the spoils with top-six opposition four times this year, while Spurs have done so on three occasions.

It’s 4/6 that both teams score for the fifth time in six meetings, while a 1-1 result (5/1) has occurred in two of the last three clashes.

Liverpool’s stuttering form makes it somewhat tricky to pick out a goalscorer here, but it’s become evident that the Reds hit a different level when Sadio Mane is on form.

With just three goals in 13 for Roberto Firmino, and the same in 16 for Philippe Coutinho, Klopp will be desperate for Mane to come good.

The 24-year-old is 6/1 to bag the opener, but Harry Kane has netted on each of his last two visits to Anfield, and leads the way at 4/1.

But the standout bet looks to be in backing the second-half to feature the most goals at Evens.

Of the last 29 goals scored in this fixture, 18 have come after the interval.

And given that both Klopp and Pochettino will likely adopt a somewhat cautious approach in the early stages, we fancy the second-half to be goal-heavy once again.
