Leicester now shortest price they’ve been for drop as rivals close gap

Published:

They may not have kicked a ball this weekend, but Leicester City’s relegation odds have been slashed from 6/1 to just 3/1. That’s following wins from Hull City and Sunderland, who’ve closed the gap to just two points between bottom and 16th.

And those odds could shorten even further this afternoon if Manchester United take all three points from the Foxes, with 7/10 currently on offer for them to do exactly that.

Now just a point above the relegation zone and still with the likes of United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City to play, it’s looking increasingly likely that the reigning Premier League champions will find themselves in the bottom three come the end of the season.

And when you throw in the fact that they’re still going strong in the Champions League and the Emirates FA Cup, their fixture list looks dangerously congested.

That’s not the case for Hull, Swansea, Sunderland and Crystal Palace though, who have all been knocked out of every other domestic competition and only have to focus on maintaining their top-flight status.

Claudio Ranieri’s men are the only side in the division to have lost their last three games. And that dismal run of form has arguably come at the worst possible time as teams below them have all picked up crucial wins to close the gap.

Prior to a ball being kicked this season, the thought of Leicester going down was simply unfathomable.

But it’s a battle their relegation rivals will have expected from the offset. In other words, they’re all prepared for the months ahead. Leicester aren’t.

And while we’ve all whispered it quietly over the last few weeks, the time has come for us to genuinely say the following loud and clear…

Leicester City might just go down.
