Celtic extended their Ladbrokes Premiership lead to 27 points when hammering St. Johnstone 5-2 at McDiarmid Park yesterday afternoon.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Brendan Rodgers’ side though, with Liam Henderson’s sixth-minute effort overturned by Keith Watson’s header and a Dedryck Boyata own goal before half-time.

However, Moussa Dembele came off the bench to net a second-half hat-trick, including a sumptuous fifth goal for the Hoops after a fine passing move.

Dembele’s first came after he converted following a controversial penalty award but while that may have been harsh there was no doubting the visitors’ quality and superiority after the break.

Scott Sinclair also got on the scoresheet in Perth as the champions romped to another victory.

Saints remain in fourth position with Rodgers’ side continuing to look untouchable at the summit.
