How Twitter reacted to Sanchez ‘handball’ and Arsenal win
Published:Arsenal laboured to a 2-0 win over Hull City this afternoon in a match packed full of incident. Alexis Sanchez’s controversial 34th-minute goal got us underway before the Chilean secured all three points from the penalty spot late on.
The result was exactly what the Gunners needed following a turbulent week on and off the pitch at the Emirates.
However, their performance hasn’t gone down well in the Twittersphere, with pantomime villain Sanchez involved in far more than the goals that snatched victory.
Let’s start with reaction to his ‘Hand of God’, shall we?
Hand ball no??

ALEXIS SANCHEZ 1-0 ARSENAL. Scrapped over the line. Doesn’t matter. Probably handball. They all count.

Enjoyed Harry Maguire trying to grab Sanchez’s hand as he celebrated, as if it was vital forensic evidence.

Some record Sanchez has. You’ve got to hand it to him.

Wenger in his post-match interview:

Robertson just commented that Mark Clattenburg apologised that the goal shouldn’t of stood. Thanks 4 honesty, but damage done #hcafc #ArsHul

Then there was the Sanchez ‘dive’.

Former Arsenal player Alan Smith giving Sanchez the MOTM for a handball goal, a booking for a dive then converting from a contentious pen ?

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott’s head-to-head with Tigers defender Harry Maguire got creative juices flowing. Echoes of THAT Mathieu Valbuena image.

Despite failing to get anything from the game, Marco Silva’s Hull remained resilient throughout and arguably deserved more.
And fans were quick to point out the Gunners’ perceived shortcomings.
@Arsenal what an awful performance. No conviction, no passion, no ideas #wengerout #ArsHul #arsvhul
— Richard Hillyard (@mrrich1979) February 11, 2017
Arsenal have been awful today hull deserve something from this game hope they stay up #ARSHUL #PremierLeague #HullCity

Welbeck and Perez could as well go and sit with fans.
Ozil and Coq should have been subbed 10 mins back
Wenger is clueless!!#ARSHUL— Mohit (@dmohit79) February 11, 2017
This match should be enough to convince Wenger that he has nothing more to offer #ArsHul

When did Mesut Ozil become such an average player? #ARSHUL

And just to compound the away side’s misery, Sam Clucas saw red for a deliberate handball with Sanchez gratefully stroking home the spot-kick that followed. Hmmm.
Clucas: arms by side, sent off.
Sanchez: arm in the air, scores and goal stands.Clattenburg: bottle job. pic.twitter.com/qQwH3bqTzH
— HCS (@hullcitystuff) February 11, 2017
So recap:
Sanchez handball = goal
Gibbs last man tackle = no red
Clucas handball = Arsenal penalty.LOL.
