First Neymar, now Griezmann? Odds suggest Man United will raid La Liga

Published:

Manchester United could be set for yet another hectic summer of in-comings when the January transfer window opens, with reports suggesting a move for Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann is back on the cards.

Despite spending £89m to bring Paul Pogba to Old trafford last year, it’s thought Jose Mourinho will look to add even more world class talent to his ranks with the acquisition of Griezmann.

Our traders make it a 6/4 shot that a move happens this summer – that’s the shortest odds he’s been in recent weeks.

And it’s United’s current most expensive signing who could play a huge part in bringing the La Liga star to the Premier League.

Having played alongside Pogba for several years at international level, the Frenchman has reportedly told his compatriot he can see himself at Man United in the near future.

The Red Devils are already 6/4 to bring Barcelona and Brazil star Neymar to Manchester when the transfer window re-opens.

Couple that with the arrival of Griezmann, and Man United would undoubtedly boast one of the deadliest attacking units in world football.

Of course, a lot could depend on how the club fares this season. Failure to secure Champions League football would likely harm Mourinho’s chances of bringing the aforementioned names to the club.

But having won the EFL Cup this afternoon, it looks as though United’s season is just getting started.

They’re still going strong in the Emirates FA Cup and the Europa League, while they have a game in hand over second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, who are just five points ahead of them.

Were United to claim more silverware AND a top four finish this year, they’ll certainly be able to attract the likes of Griezmann and Neymar to Old Trafford to team up with the likes of Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

What these moves would mean for the futures of players such as Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard remains to be seen.

But it’s likely several fringe players at United could be looking for new clubs should the club continue to spend big on bringing the world’s best players in.

What do fans think to the latest news? Can United afford to bring in both Neymar AND Griezmann? If not, who would you prefer to see at Old Trafford?
