Bournemouth favourites for Wilshere but value lies in Italian job

Jack Wilshere faces a very uncertain summer, but the Arsenal midfielder won’t be short of potential options.

The 25-year-old has spent the season on-loan at Bournemouth, starting 17 games in the Premier League.

And the Cherries are 3/1 favourites to sign the England international permanently.

But there’s plenty of reason to suggest Wilshere won’t be sticking around on the south coast.

Any move for the Arsenal man would smash Bournemouth’s current transfer record of £15m, and that’s something the Dean Court outfit aren’t comfortable with.

Despite being a regular this season, Wilshere has yet to score for Eddie Howe’s side, and has produced just two assists.

And Arsenal have given their former protégé no guarantees of regular football upon his return to the Emirates, leaving Wilshere in a quandary.

Far better value then, lies in AC Milan and Roma, who are next in the betting at 6/1.

Neither would have a problem meeting Arsenal’s fee, and AC in particular are set for a big summer, thanks to new owners.

Both Serie A heavyweights looked to bring Wilshere in on-loan last summer, before he chose to head to Bournemouth.

West Ham are also in the mix at 6/1, while Everton are at 8s.

A move to Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle might tempt a few at 10/1, but one place we don’t see Wilshere going is White Hart Lane.

Our odds of 50/1 to join Tottenham suggests that the Arsenal man isn’t about to swap red for white in north London.
