Arsenal v Hull: Resurgent Tigers can add to Wenger’s woes

In an ideal world, Arsenal would head into Saturday’s early kick-off against Hull City knowing that a win would see them level on points with Chelsea. Instead, they go into this fixture knowing defeat would see them some 15 points behind the Blues and more than likely in sixth place come close of play this weekend.

That’s a fortnight in the Premier League for you.

And while the Gunners are priced at the 2/7 favourites to take all three points here, we reckon the value lies elsewhere.

Take the Double Chance market, for example. It’s 11/4 for the Tigers to draw or win this game. Plenty would have raised their eyebrows at this a month ago. But under Marco Silva, this is a completely different Hull side.

Four points and two clean sheets from their last two games against Manchester United and Liverpool have made survival a very realistic ambition for City. Back-to-back defeats for the Gunners against Watford and Chelsea though has made a finish outside the top four equally as likely.

Of course, it all depends on how Arsenal start. It’s been a while since they’ve come out of the traps flying, and they’ve not scored in the first-half in any of their last three league games.

For those of you looking for more value in the Arsenal win, it’s worth considering the Draw/Arsenal at 16/5 in the Half-time/Full-time market.

Meanwhile, the 3/1 on Hull to score first is just as tempting. The Gunners have conceded the opening goal in their last two league games, while the Tigers shocked Liverpool by taking the lead last weekend.

And at 10/11, we’re certainly fancying both sides to find the net. Arsene Wenger’s men have conceded in four of their last five top-flight outings. The only downside to that bet is that Hull have scored just six goals on the road this season. But under Silva, they’ll feel confident of scoring against anyone, anywhere.

We’re expecting Wenger to make a number of changes to the side which started against Chelsea. One name who should still be on the teamsheet though is Alexis Sanchez, and 11/4 says he opens the scoring.

Meanwhile, you’d like to think former Everton striker Oumar Niasse will have done enough to warrant a place in Hull’s starting XI, especially after scoring against both Man United and Liverpool in recent weeks.

With that in mind, we’re leaning towards the 15/4 on offer for the Senegalese finding the net against yet another big club.
