West Ham favourites to sign Man City outcast in summer swoop

Published:

Things haven’t really gone according to plan for Slaven Bilic’s West Ham side so far this season. They’re 10 points worse off than they were at this stage last year, and have already lost two more matches this time out than they managed in the whole of the 2015-16 campaign.

Failure to land any huge names back in the summer has left supporters wondering what the future holds for the Hammers.

But we could be looking at a very different side at the London Stadium on the opening day of next season. And if the latest reports are to be believed, Manchester City outcast Joe Hart could soon be on his way.

The England number one has made it clear of his intention to return to the Premier League after a season away at Serie A outfit Torino.

And the latest odds are suggesting he may well team up with the likes of Dimitri Payet and compatriot Michail Antonio, with our traders making West Ham the 6/4 favourites for his signature.

Of course, such a move would likely put an end to Adrian’s time in east London – but fans would certainly see Hart’s acquisition as a step in the right direction from the club.

And it’s the first time since joining Torino that a London club has headed this market, with Liverpool and Everton previously thought to have been the two sides preparing to do battle in the summer.

As things stand, it’s the Reds who are next in the running at 11/4. And they could certainly do with a goalkeeper of Hart’s calibre, having conceded more goals than any other side in the Top Six.

That leaves Everton just behind in the running at 5/1, while Arsenal are some way off at 8s, with Petr Cech still expected to stay at the Emirates for the foreseeable future.

Whatever happens though, it’s likely we’ll be seeing Hart playing in England once again come next season. A move to any Chinese club has been priced up at 10/1, while 12/1 says he joins a MLS outfit.
