Under the Radar: Three men who could shine in the Emirates FA Cup

Published:

It’s Third Round time in the Emirates FA Cup, and that means it’s a chance for someone to become a hero.

With 23 fixtures seeing lower league sides handed the chance to take on clubs from higher divisions, we could well see a number of famous Cup upsets this weekend.

Will we see another Ronnie Radford? Will a Premier League giant go crashing out of the Cup?

At Ladbrokes News we’ve picked out three men who might become household names come next week…

Nathan Arnold – Lincoln City

Matt Rhead may be Lincoln’s top scorer this season with 11, but it’s 10-goal hitman Nathan Arnold we’re focussing on here.

The National League Imps head to Ipswich this weekend, and Mick McCarthy’s side will be preoccupied handling 6ft 4in Rhead.

That leaves the stage free for tricky winger Arnold to claim the headlines. And with two crucial goals in his last four games, the 29-year-old part-time barber is ready to cut Ipswich down to size.

Steve Morison – Millwall

The Den could be the scene for a Cupset, as Millwall host Bournemouth, and Lions striker Steve Morison would make an ideal hero.

The 33-year-old is still going strong in his second stint with the Bermondsey outfit, and his experienced head could make the difference.

With Eddie Howe’s men still reeling from a 3-3 draw with Arsenal in midweek, the Cherries could be ripe for the picking.

Byron Harrison – Barrow

After spells with Wimbledon, Cheltenham and Chesterfield in the third and fourth tiers, Byron Harrison is proving unstoppable in the National League for Barrow.

The 29-year-old Londoner has 17 for the season is a real handful at 6ft 3in.

Under Paul Cox, the Bluebirds have become incredibly difficult to beat – losing just three times in the league.

That should be plenty then, to concern this weekend’s opponents from League One, Rochdale.
