They’ve beaten all of their title rivals – so can Liverpool with the league?

Four wins on the bounce, a Premier League-best 46 goals scored and one of the most exciting managers on the planet. These are just three reasons why Liverpool can win the title.

But for every point which brings hope, there’s a minor doubt. And that’s one of the reasons why the Reds are still priced at 4/1 to go all the way this year.

Ladbrokes News takes a look at why Liverpool can go all the way. But, ever playing devil’s advocate, we’ve thrown in a couple of pointers that are worth considering…

Is the timing right?

First off, let it be said that we’ve been hugely impressed with Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, right from the word go.

In fact, since the German boss arrived at Anfield, Liverpool have undoubtedly been one of the most entertaining teams to watch.

But entertainment alone doesn’t win you trophies.

It’s all about timing, too. This Liverpool side would have been right in the mix last campaign had they have shown such consistency in Leicester City’s title-winning season.

But, skip forward a year, and the Reds already have it all to do. Though they may be one of the standout sides in the division, they’re not the standout side.

That tag goes to Chelsea, who are already six points clear at the top and enjoying a 13-game winning streak.

Wouldn’t it be just Liverpool’s luck to give it their all in a year where another team has already run away with it?

We’re still unsure

It’s a line you hear time and time again throughout the season, and unfortunately for Liverpool, it’s true…

You can’t win the league without a solid defensive unit.

This, as has so often been the case for the Merseyside outfit over the years, could be Liverpool’s downfall.

Teams will come up against Klopp’s men confident of scoring, and that shouldn’t apply to a team we’re speaking of as title challengers.

We’re still not entirely sure who the Reds’ number one goalkeeper is, with Loris Karius playing in 10 and Simon Mignolet in nine of Liverpool’s opening 19 games.

And with a back-four which has mainly consisted of James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren – you have to say the doubts start kicking in about this team’s chances of success.

But credit where it’s due – defensively, the Reds have looked a lot stronger in recent weeks.

Simon Mignolet has conceded just one goal in Liverpool’s last four games, and the winter transfer window is almost upon us.

Could they be turning a corner? We certainly hope so.

In Klopp, they trust

Make no mistake about it, there’s only a handful of clubs in world football that wouldn’t snap your hand off at the chance to have Jurgen Klopp in charge of them.

The man is certainly one of the most entertaining characters in the league, and it’s clear his players all give 100 per cent for him week-in, week-out.

It’s stability like that which wins you titles.

Again, we hate to be the bearers of bad news, but Liverpool aren’t the only side in the division with a world class manager in charge.

Far from it, in fact.

Though a manager can’t win a team a title on his own, he can go a long way to helping achieve that goal.

And while Liverpool supporters will be hoping that’s the case with Klopp, Man City fans will be hoping the same about Pep Guardiola, as will Man United fans about Jose Mourinho, as will Chelsea fans about Conte.

And so on…

The verdict?

In short, this Liverpool side have the potential to be Premier League champions. Whether that will come this year, we’re not sure yet.

There’s still a long way to go, but league leaders Chelsea don’t look like dropping points any time soon.

However, should they begin to stutter, right now there’s only one side that looks likely to capitalise, and that’s Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
