There’s plenty of value in our latest BDO World Darts special

Published:

It may not get the credit it deserves, but there’s no doubting the fact that the standard of players currently on the BDO circuit is higher than it’s ever been.

And with the Lakeside World Championships now just days away from starting, there’s a whole host of players in with a genuine shot at the title.

But our latest bet doesn’t concern one specific player. Instead, anyone can win it for us…

Highest one-match Lakeside average to be broken this year – 5/1

It’s a big ask, but we don’t think there’s ever been a better year for Raymond van Barneveld’s record to be broken.

Scoring an average of 103.83 back in the 2004 Quarter Final against John Walton, Barney has since swapped the BDO for the PDC.

And in the 13 years that it’s stood for, nobody has ever come close to matching that staggering figure.

Indeed, the PDC’s version of the Worlds saw that amount matched some 12 times this year, emphasising the huge difference between both bodies.

But it’s worth noting that players from the BDO and PDC are coming up against each other more often than ever.

And as last year’s Grand Slam of Darts showed, the likes of Danny Noppert, Scott Mitchell and Jamie Hughes have all proved they can hold their own against the sport’s elite players.

In fact, the aforementioned names ALL recorded averages larger than that of Barney’s from 2004.

So if you’re wondering where to put your money this year, then this market is seriously worth considering.
