The three men Pochettino should go for to ease Harry Kane’s burden

Published:

He arrived for a princely £18m in the summer, but three goals from 23 appearances suggests Vincent Janssen has failed to live up to expectation.

So, to ease the workload on Harry Kane, who can Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino look to bring in?

Janssen had been hoped to allow Kane some rest this season, while also easing the goal burden on the England international.

Kane netted over a third of Spurs’ Premier League goals last term, and though the team have contributed more this time around, the striker has netted over 25 per cent of the team’s goals this season.

And when you add in the fact Kane missed several games through injury, it’s clear how much Tottenham rely on their number 10.

So we’ve done some scouting at Ladbrokes News, and reckon Pochettino should be lining up a move for one of these three men…

Lukasz Teodorczyk

The Polish striker can’t stop scoring for Anderlecht this season, notching 24 in all competitions.

While the same things may have been said about Janssen 12 months ago, Teodorczyk comes with much more experience.

The 25-year-old has been a Polish international since 2013, spent two years at Dynamo Kyiv and boasts a wealth of Champions League and Europa League experience.

At 6ft 1in, he should be able to hack the physical side of the Premier League too.

Mauro Icardi

If Tottenham really want to make a statement, then Inter’s mercurial striker Mauro Icardi could be the man to make such headlines.

The Argentine is currently enjoying a very uneasy time of things in Milan, following the release of his explosive autobiography in the Autumn.

Fans have called for him to leave, and with 14 goals in 19 Serie A games this term, there will be plenty of clubs interested.

Still only 23, Icardi could be a perfect asset for Kane and Spurs.

Iago Aspas

Derided on Merseyside for a disastrous spell at Liverpool, Iago Aspas is again playing the kind of football which saw the Reds shell out almost £10 for him three years ago.

The Celta Vigo hitman has 15 goals in all competitions this season -11 in La Liga – and at 29, is at the peak of his career.

Throw in six assists this term and you’ve got a team player who would slot very nicely into the Pochettino ethos.
